Smokey Hollow Barber Shop

Tallahassee, Florida

The Historic Smokey Hollow Barbershop building was removed from its original location and sat abandon for many years before coming to the attention of Blueprint 2000 Intergovernmental Agency in 2010.

The Hammond Design Group, LLC was tasked with developing construction drawings, respecting the historic qualities of the existing structure and respecting the ”Secretary of Interior’s” Standards for Historic Preservation.

The renovation and preservation of the structure occurred over three years to find, fabricate and retrieve historically accurate materials. The building was relocated to the original neighborhood in 2018 and serve as a landmark to the forgotten African American Community of Smokey Hollow. The building anchors the southernmost part of Cascades Park in Tallahassee, Florida.
